The mound of earth about 1.5 meters high covers the undisturbed roots of the felled tree.

Do you see any sign of any destruction to roots of any more than a few millimeters diameter?

The tree was leaning towards the uninhabited, fenced off site.

Did the JCB excavators endanger themselves by removing too much or were they sensible enough to leave the main roots intact?

If need be soil could easily have been moved back to shore the trees up.

One week later new soil was imported to the site.
